Fee Guidelines by Case Type

Voluntary Debt Restructuring

For voluntary debt restructuring, the fee is generally JPY 33,000 to JPY 55,000 (tax included) per creditor, depending on the number of creditors and the nature of the case. In addition, actual expenses (such as postage for correspondence with creditors) will be charged separately.

Attorney fees may be paid in installments depending on the client's financial situation. However, actual negotiations with creditors will begin only after the full attorney fee has been accumulated. Even in such cases, a notice of representation will be sent to creditors promptly after the engagement agreement (even before the fee is paid), so creditors will stop demanding payment. Please rest assured.

If overpayments to creditors are discovered, a separate success fee will be charged based on the amount recovered by the attorney from the creditors, in addition to the above fee.

Personal Bankruptcy

For personal bankruptcy, the retainer fee is generally JPY 330,000 (tax included) (however, fees may be higher for complex cases such as those involving sole proprietors). There is no success fee.

In addition, court filing expenses (revenue stamps, postage, bankruptcy trustee's fees, etc.) will be charged separately. For cases requiring a trustee, the trustee's fees alone will be JPY 200,000 or more (trustee's fees are not required for simultaneous termination cases). These details vary depending on your circumstances and will be explained during the consultation.

Attorney fees may be paid in installments depending on the client's financial situation. However, the actual bankruptcy petition will be filed with the court only after the full attorney fee has been accumulated. Even in such cases, a notice of representation will be sent to creditors promptly after the engagement agreement (even before the fee is paid), so creditors will stop demanding payment. Please rest assured.

Individual Rehabilitation

For individual rehabilitation, the retainer fee starts at JPY 550,000 (tax included), depending on the number of creditors and the nature of the case (whether a special housing loan provision applies, etc.). There is no success fee.

In addition to the retainer fee, court filing expenses (revenue stamps, postage, etc.) will be charged separately. Details will be explained during the consultation.
